THE GAME
"GRAPHIC DESIGN
VISIONARIES"
Game rules:

There are 150 cards in the game - 75 with text (quotes) and 75 with images (works).

In the beginning, every player gets 10 cards. Taking turns with his opponents, he chooses a card from the pack of the person next to him without seeing them, and based on what type of card it is - image or text - the opponent has to either read or show him the image. The person, who has chosen that card has to guess who the artist is.

Every player gets a "secret flashlight" with UV light that when flashed to the card shows the secret ink with the artist's name, the years he lived in, and his nationality so that each player has the information only about his own cards and that cannot be seen when you turn your card to show it to another player.

If the player guesses right, he takes the card into his "win pack" and puts it face down in front of him.
If he doesn't, the next player continues.

When a card is taken from your pack you get another one from the big pack.

The game ends when a single player has 12 cards in his "win pack".

The hints like nationality or years of life can be used for beginners.
The whole game is based on the book "Graphic design visionaries" which features 75 designers in a chronological order, . The reason why I created this game was for people like me who want to learn and know more about design, the big and small names in it, their methods and works. In a society where book are becoming less and less important, I thought such a game would be a much better option to educate the younger generation about the big ones in the field, give them awareness, ideas and inspire them in a fun way.

The decision to create this game was also influenced by reading the book "Brand the change" where the strong message conveyed was that every thing can have huge success when it has strong branding. In that sense I thought knowing more, having awareness and general knowedge about others in the field can be 'promoted' by such a brand of cards, which would make it fun and easy to achieve for the exact target group
For the cover of the cards I chose an original vintage poster created in the mid 1960's to coincide with the release of Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits album. It was created by the renowned American artist, Milton Glaser, who is also known for the iconic I ♥ NY logo. This poster features the Pop Art style that is still popular today. I chose this one as I thought even though created for Bob Dylan it could be interpreted in many ways, and I thought it could really well resemble "Graphic Design Visionaries" - as people with different methods, views, approaches and colors. I thought it also looks really up-todate, and its complexity allowed it to adopt another context.
